Tech Day – How to Lubricate Drive Shaft Splines – November 13, 2025
Stu Greene and John Schnabel held a Tech Day on Thursday, November 13 at John’s garage in Windsor Locks to show how to lubricate BMW motorcycle drive shaft splines. BMW is now requiring the drive shafts of 2014 bikes and later to be lubricated every 12,000 miles.
About 12 members attended and we enjoyed socializing, as well as learning how to service a drive shaft.
Along with drive shaft discussions, Bill Clarke brought his transmission side cover to show the broken spring that almost left him stranded. One day when he was out and about with other club members, he was suddenly unable to shift his transmission. With assistance, he was able to ride home in 3rd gear, the one gear that he was able to select.
And we expressed our appreciation to Stu for his service to our country (Veteran’s Day was 2 days prior). Thank you, Stu!
